Riley's Record

Paving the Way for a Brighter Future!

Riley Alton's record as Olmsted Township Trustee is one of integrity, smart growth, and putting people first. He took office with a clear mission to bring a fresh perspective and has delivered on his promises, working tirelessly to make Olmsted Township an even better place to live, work, and raise a family.

Investing in Our Community

Riley has been a champion for our infrastructure, securing millions in grants to fund critical projects across the township. He’s delivered long-needed upgrades to sidewalks, trails, and roads. He secured a $150,000 federal grant to extend sidewalks along Schady Road, a project that improves walkability and keeps people safe. In a strategic move to secure the township's future, he also pushed for and approved a comprehensive town center feasibility study.

Supporting Our Safety Forces

As a pro-labor leader, Riley has made supporting our first responders a top priority. He’s worked to ensure our police and fire departments are well-equipped and properly staffed. During his tenure, the fire department grew from 12 to 17 full-time firefighters, and he successfully championed a new contract that provided a much-needed wage increase for our firefighters. He also supported a transition to 12-hour shifts for police officers, a change that improved coverage and allowed for more family time without compromising service quality.
  • Supported Necessary Capital Purchases: Fire Engine, Ambulance, Police Cars, Leaf Vacs
  • Hired additional full-time firefighters and police officers to ensure safe staffing levels
  • Supported more competitive wages and more flexible work schedules to better attract and retain excellent public employees who keep our community safe and strong

Building Stronger Partnerships

Riley believes we are stronger when we work together. He’s been proactive in building partnerships with neighboring communities to improve services and spur economic development. He has worked to secure millions in grant funding at every level of government to improve our quality of life at minimal cost to property taxpayers. He also supported efforts to get our first responders on the same radio network as our neighbors, which not only saves money but also enhances public safety.

A Champion for Workers

Riley's deep roots in the community and union values guide his decisions. He has stood with our unions to ensure township employees are treated with respect and receive fair wages and benefits. Under his leadership, the Service Department successfully unionized with the Teamsters, and he has consistently supported the use of prevailing wage for all competitively bid township projects.
